Kathmandu, January 25

The International Cricket Council today announced the Nepal national team for the ICC World Cricket League Division-II slated for February 8-15 in Namibia.

The team was selected by the three-member panel headed by ICC representative Aminul Islam, with national team head coach Jagat Tamatta and skipper Paras Khadka being the other two.

Khadka and his deputy Gyanendra Malla have been retained in the 14-member squad for the Namibia tour. Shakti Gauchan, Basant Regmi, Sharad Vesawkar, Sompal Kami, Karan KC, Md Arif Sheikh, Sandeep Lamichhane, Dipendra Singh Airee, Dilip Nath, Lalit Bhandari, Anil Kumar Sah and Rohit Kumar Paudel are the other members of the team.

Sunil Dhamala, Lalit Narayan Rajbanshi, Siddhant Lohani and Kishor Mahato have been kept in the list of reserve players.

A total of six teams — hosts Namibia, Nepal, Kenya, the United Arab Emirates, Oman and Canada — are competing in the event to be held at three different venues of Windhoek from February 8-15.

Nepal will face Namibia at the WAP Ground on February 8 before playing their second match against Oman the following day. Nepal will then take on the UAE in their third match on February 11 and meet Kenya the next day at the Wanderers Cricket Ground. Nepal will wrap up the league round campaign with a match against Canada at Wanderers on February 14.

After the round robin matches, top two teams will advance to the final and will also earn berths in the ICC World Cup Qualifiers to be held in Zimbabwe from March 2-25.

The Nepali team will travel to the UAE on Saturday and will play three practice matches against local teams. The team is scheduled to fly to Namibia on February 4.
