India win ODI series v Zimbabwe with easy win in 2nd match

HARARE: India won the one-day international series against Zimbabwe with an easy eight-wicket win in the second match on Monday.

It followed the same plot as the first match on Saturday.

India won the toss, made Zimbabwe bat, Zimbabwe was all out for little, and India cruised to victory. On Saturday, it was by nine wickets, on Monday it was by eight.

The third and last ODI is on Wednesday.

Zimbabwe was in a relatively good position at 106-3 in the 26th over. Then legspinner Yuzvendra Chahal, who made his debut on Saturday, claimed in successive balls Sikandar Raza (16), who was caught on the boundary, and trapped Elton Chigumbura (duck).

In his next over, Chahal got Vusi Sibanda, the leading scorer on 53, who tried a big sweep and only edged it. At 107-6, Zimbabwe didn't recover, and was all out for 126 in 35 overs. It lost its last six wickets for 20 runs.

Sean Williams didn't bat because he injured his finger after the toss.

India took 27 overs to reach the target for the loss of the openers, both of whom made their debut on Saturday. Lokesh Rahul, the first Indian to make an ODI century on debut, dragged onto his stumps on 33, while Karun Nair, out on 10 but saved by a no-ball, was lbw on 39 just two runs from the win.

Manish Pandey hit the winning boundary off the next ball, and Ambati Rayudu was left unbeaten on 41.
