ICC will lift ban in June: Bista

KATHMANDU: National Sports Council Member Secretary Keshab Kumar Bista said the International Cricket Council would lift the Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN) Membership suspension in June.

“I am in constant touch with the ICC officials and they have assured me of lifting the ban in the first week of June,” claimed Bista during the farewell programme of national cricket team that left for Bangladesh to participate in the ACC Emerging Teams Cup.

The ICC suspended the CAN Membership in April last year after the NSC formed ad hoc committee denying recognition to the elected body. “ICC will also release funds for cricketers’ allowances before lifting the suspension and we will make it pay the perks from the gate collection of the World Cricket League Championship matches,” said Bista.

The ICC had sold tickets for Nepal’s matches against Namibia in April last year and Kenya earlier this month.
