Kathmandu Goldens thrash Dhangadhi Team Chauraha in DPL opener

KATHMANDU: Kathmandu Goldens have registered a seven-wickets win over Dhangadhi Team Chauraha in the Ruslan Dhangadhi Premier League Twenty20 Cricket Tournament's opening match on Saturday.

Chauraha, who was invited to bat after losing the toss, made a total of 145/6 in their allotted 20 overs at SSP ground, Dhangadhi. In reply, Goldens reached to 146/3 in 18.4 Overs.

Opener Amit Shrestha's half-century was crucial for Goldens to produce an easy victory over Chauraha. Unbeaten Shrestha smashed 81 runs in 65 deliveries. Likewise, Indian recruit Jaykishan Kolsawala contributed 13-ball 16 while captain Gyanendra Malla who came to bat at third number made 10 runs.

Chauraha's Samsad Sheikh bagged two wickets while Sunil Dhamala added another for loosing side.

Earlier, Sunil Dhamala smashed a half-century for Chauraha. His 57-ball 68 runs that included two sixes and eight fours, Shankar Rana made 36 runs off 31 balls. Forgein recruit Punit Mishra added nine runs for Chauraha where as unbeaten Raju Rijal (11) and Yogendra Singh Karki (5) were other contributors.

Shahab Alam claimed three wickets for Kathmandu Goldens while Kishore Mahato, Sunny Patel and Rashaid Khan bagged one wicket each.
