Khaptad Gold Cup preparations begin

Dhangadhi, December 25

Hosts Farwest-XI Sports Club have began the preparations for the second International Invitational Nepal Ice Farwest Khaptad Gold Cup Tournament to be held in Dhangadhi from January 5-15.

Different sub-committees were formed and they have started working for the tournament following the sponsorship agreement with Chaudhary Group’s Nepal Ice, informed Club President Suresh Hamal at a press meet today. “We are also looking for other sponsors and the tournament aims at promoting sports tourism in the region,” said Hamal. The organisers also informed that artificial parapet will be placed for the spectators.

A total of 12 teams — hosts Farwest-XI, defending champions Laxmi Hyundai Manang Marshyangdi Club, Ruslan Three Star Club, Tribhuvan Army Club, Nepal APF Club, CMG Club Sankata, Chyasal Youth Club, Rumpum Jhapa-XI, Sahara Club, Agni Rupandehi-XI, Dharan Football Club along with Bhutan’s Druk Star FC — will compete in the tournament.

The winners will take home Rs 1.11 million, while runners-up will get Rs 555,555. Similarly, best player of the tournament will get a motorbike, whereas the best individuals will be awarded with Rs 25,000 each. The man of the match will earn Rs 10,000. The estimated budget of the event is Rs 11 million.
