Lama wins golf title

Kathmandu, September 24

Phuntsok N Lama won the title of the fourth World Tourism Day Golf Tournament here at the Royal Nepal Golf Club today.

Played under stableford 3/4 handicap format, Lama accumulated 40 points. He received return tickets to Sharjah from President Travel. Ang Norbu Sherpa came second with 38 points and received return ticket to Pokhara from Yeti Air.

Capt Norbu Sherpa won the gross section trophy with 38 points. He received return ticket to Colombo from Himalaya Airlines. Pratima Sherpa lifted the women’s title with 31 points, while Kalpana Limbu was a distant second with 24 points.

Maj Man Bahadur Limbu bagged the senior category award with 36 points and Maj NK Rai took the super senior section trophy with 24 points.

Pradeep Kumar Shrestha won the diplomat category title with 34 points. Mithun Rai won most birdies award with four birdies, while Phuntsok N Lama took the longest drive award and Hemant Gurung lifted the closest-to-the-pin trophy.

A total of 76 golfers took part in the tournament organised by the Nepal Golf Association. NGA President Madhukar Yakthumba, General Secretary Tashi Ghale, Gen Pyar Jung Thapa among others handed over the prizes to the winners of the event.

The winners received gift hampers from Pavilion Himalaya Resort of Pokhara, Pataleban Vineyard Winery, Druk Air and Barahi Group.

Five lucky draw winners received gift vouchers from Gokarna Forest Golf Resort, Hotel Royal Singi, Tiger Land Jungle Safari, Fishtail Lodge and Ghar-e-Kabab. Treasurer of NGA Kishan Agrawal was the tournament coordinator.
