National Cricket for Blinds kicks off

Lalitpur, December 6

Team Manaslu and Team Dhaulagiri recorded wins in the men’s National Cricket Tournament for Blinds at Engineering College grounds here today.

In the opening match, Manaslu defeated Dhaulagiri by 41 runs. Batting first, Manaslu scored 130 in 20 overs and restricted Dhaulagiri to 89 runs in 20 overs. Badri Chaulagain of Dhaulagiri won the man-of-the-match award for his 22 runs.

Dhaulagiri bounced back to beat Team Annapurna by four wickets in another match of the day. Batting first, Annapurna were all out for 45 runs in 11.3 overs and Dhaulagiri reached the target in 9.4 overs. Annapurna’s Abdul Zahir, who scored 12 runs, was named the man-of-the-match.

A total of three teams are taking part in the tournament organised by Cricket Association of Blind Nepal. The tournament also serves as the selection for the second Twenty20 World Cup Cricket Tournament for Blind to be held at different nine venues in India from January 20 to February 12.  A total of 14 players will be picked up after the tournament, which is supported by Australian Embassy.
