NB Bank nets Vesawkar, Regmi

Kathmandu, August 19

Nepal Bangladesh Bank today signed endorsement deals with national cricket team members Sharad Vesawar and Basant Regmi.

As per the MoU, the two cricketers will be brand ambassadors of the bank for the next two years for undisclosed amount. Chief Executive Officer of NB Bank Gyanendra Prasad Dhungana exchanged the agreement papers with Vesawkar and Regmi amidst a programme.

“These two national figures have helped Nepal reach great heights in global cricket and we are privileged that they have chosen our bank to associate with,” said Dhungana, who did not elaborate about the terms and conditions of the agreement with the cricketers. “This agreement is valid for two years and we will use their free time to expand cricket throughout the country,” he added.

“It’s high time to support cricket and cricketers as we have become an ODI nation. We need to inspire the players. This is a small beginning and we have planned to come in a big way. Actually, we are waiting for the Cricket Association of Nepal to be formed legally,” added Dhungana.

Vesawkar thanked the bank for the gesture. “I am really thankful to the bank for taking me in and I would also like to thank Everest Premier League team for this initiation,” said Vesawkar. “We can do a lot of activities under CSR initiative and we are looking forward to make contribution for the country apart from playing cricket,” added Vesawkar, who is recovering from the fractured finger. Another cricketer, Regmi was also grateful to the bank and EPL team. “We will do whatever we can to contribute to the back from our side,” he said.

The Nepali team is on Monday leaving for Sri Lanka to play three practice matches as part of preparation for the Asia Cup Qualifiers. After the Sri Lanka tour, the Nepali team will leave for Malaysia on August 27 to participate in the six-nation Qualifiers.
