Nepal face B’desh in opener tomorrow

KATHMANDU: Nepal will take on Bangladesh in their opening match of the SAFF U-15 Women’s Championship at the Bir Shrestho Mostofa Kamal Stadium in Dhaka on Monday.

A total of four teams — hosts Bangladesh, Nepal, India and Bhutan — are competing in the tournament which will be played under round robin format.

Meanwhile, Nepali team head coach Ganga Gurung said Nepal’s primary target was to make it to the final. “We are good in defense after regular training and we have prepared the team well,” said Gurung at the pre-match conference.

Similarly, skipper Priti Rai said there was coordination among the players and her side will win the title. Nepal will play their second match against India on Monday before facing Bhutan on December 21.

After the league round, top two teams will advance to the final.
