Nepal go down to India in semi-finals

KATHMANDU: Nepali youth team faced a 2-1 defeat at the hands of India in the semi-finals of the second SAFF U-15 Girls’ Football Championship at the Changlimithang Stadium in Thimpu, Bhutan on Thursday.

India took the lead in the 30th minute through Lenda Kom before Rajani Thokar of Nepal levelled the scores seven minutes later as the first half ended in a 1-1 draw.

Both the teams pushed to break the deadlock but it was India who found the back of the nets in 75th minute. Kristina Devi restored India’s lead and that proved to be the winning goal for tournament favourites.

India will face the winners of the match between Bangladesh and hosts Bhutan in Saturday’s final.

Nepal will play the third place playoff match on the same day.
