Nepal go down to the Philippines

Kathmandu, September 19

Nepali youth team faced a 4-0 loss at the hands of the Philippines in the first match of the AFC U-16 Women’s Championship Group E Qualifiers here at the Nepal APF Club grounds on Wednesday.

Maria Lazo scored a brace, while Keanne Maicah Alamo and Mikaela Villacin netted one each for the visitors.

Lazo opened the scoring in the 42nd minute and doubled the tally in the first half injury time. Alamo made it 3-0 in the 76th minute before Villacin completed the rout with the team’s fourth goal in the 82nd minute.

In another match, Myanmar defeated Malayaia 3-0. On Friday, Nepal will take on Myanmar, while the Philippines will face Malaysia. Top two teams from the group will advance to the AFC U-16 Women’s Championship finals to be held in Thailand next year.
