NPC enter semi-finals

Nepal Police Club defeated Subhash Chandra Boys Club of India 4-0 and advanced to the semi-finals of the Mechi Netralaya Kakarvitta Gold Cup Football Tournament that kicked off here at Mechi Nagar today.

In the inaugural match, Tirtha Rana scored a brace, while Bhola Silwal and Tej Tamang netted a goal each for NPC.

Rana opened the scoring in the 10th minute and doubled the tally in the 17th minute. Silwal found the back of the nets in the 24th minute to make it 3-0 in the first half.

NPC added one more goal after the interval as Tamang scored in the 79th minute. NPC’s Tirtha Rana was named the man-of-the-match and got Rs 10,000.

On Thursday, APF will take on Rupandehi.

A total of 10 teams—hosts Kakarvitta Football Training Centre, Rum Pum Jhapa-XI, Agni Rupandehi-XI, Laxmi Hyundai Manang Marshyangdi Club, Nepal APF Club, Tribhuvan Army Club, NPC, Himalayan Sherpa Club, Far-west-XI and Subhash Chandra Boys Club — are competing in the tournament. The winners and runners-up of the tournament will take home Rs 800,000 and Rs 400,000 respectively.
