Nepali handball team off to Pakistan

Kathmandu, March 8

A 41-member Nepali handball team on Thursday left for Pakistan to compete in the IHF Trophy slated for March 10-15 in Faisalabad.

Nepal U-19 and U-21 teams will compete in the event to be participated in by hosts Pakistan, Nepal, India, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Maldives, Oman, Afghanistan and Bhutan.

Keshab Bista, Jitendra Gurung, Pravin Tamang, Kadam Chalise, Shiva Bishwokarma, Rohit Gurung, Manoj Pun, Milan Gharti Magar, Lopsag Tamang, Bhuwan Bahadur Shahi, Sushan Pariyar, Dipsan Magar, Mack Pun and Prabesh Karki are the members of the U-19 team. Likewise, Saroj Singh, Bikash Bista, Bipin Shrestha, Prabhan Kumar Shahi, Mahesh Puri, Mahendra Pun, Ishwor Roka, Sarunman Shrestha, Ashish Adhikari, Sachin Tandukar, Anish Gurung, Sajan Pariyar, Sabin Magar and Dheeraj Chaudhary are in U-21 squad.

Coaches Pitamber Acharya, Ramesh Shrestha, Tek Bahadur BK, Himal Raj Dahal and Krishna Shakya along with manager Shambhu Paudel and Nepal Handball Association President Tej Bahadur Gurung also accompanied the players to Pakistan.

Meanwhile, Nepal Olympic Committee President Jeevan Ram Shrestha bade farewell to the team on Thursday.
