Nepali teams face defeats against India

Lalitpur, April 27

Both the teams of Nepal lost to India in the finals of the South Asian  Qualifying Tournament here at the Satdobato Tennis Complex today.

All four teams had already qualified for the ITF Asian U-12 and  Team Championship to be hosted by Kazakhstan in November.

In the boys’ section final, India beat Nepal 2-0. Aki Zuben Rawat  was beaten by Harsh Fogaat 7-5, 6-1 and Aarav Samrat Hada went down to  Vansh Nandal 6-4, 6-4. Pakistan finished third beating Sri Lanka 2-0.  Muhammad Huzaifa Khan saw off Lisal Goodnetilleke 6-1, 6-4 and Hamid  Israr outplayed Vichinthya Nilaweera 6-1, 6-1.

In girls’ section final,  India’s Durganshi earned a double bagel against Azaa Regmi, while Anjali  Rathi beat Subhangee Laxmi Shah 6-0, 3-1 after the Nepali player retired hurt in the  second set. Sri Lanka finished third beating Bhutan 2-0.  Ruvi Rajakaruna Lewkebandara defeated Karma Yuden Dorji 6-1, 6-1, while  Hasali Gajaba earned a double bagel against Tenzin Wangsel Lhaden.

Teams  from Nepal, India, Sri Lanka, Bhutan and Pakistan competed in boys’  category, while women’s category featured teams from Nepal, Sri Lanka,  Bhutan and India.
