Nepali veteran football players off to India

Kathmandu, January 18

A 21-member veteran football team of CMG Club today left for India to take part in the Kolkata 8’s International Invitational Veterans Soccer Challenge 2017 slated for January 20-24 in Kolkata.

United Veterans Kolkata is holding the tournament where a total of eight veteran teams will take part for title. The Nepali team comprised of skipper Rajesh Manandhar, Upendra Man Singh, Bal Gopal Maharjan, Rakesh Shrestha, Saugesh Shrestha, Chet Narayan Shrestha, Rajan Nepali, Narendra Shrestha, Raju Singh Maharjan, Sanjeev Baidya, Vijay Shrestha, Amar Dangol, Hari Om Shrestha, Kalyan Khadgi, Prakash Baidya and Laxman Shrestha.

Coach Jay Krishna Shrestha, manager Rabindra Khadgi as well as officials Sanga Ratna Maharjan, Asta Kumar Kawe and Rajesh Joshi accompanied the players to India. Meanwhile, former national football team skipper Achyut Krishna Kharel, CMG Club Manager Mahesh Bahadur Malla, All Nepal Football Association Chief Executive Officer Indra Man Tuladhar and Nepal National and International Players Association President Deepak Bista bade farewell to the team during a programme today.
