NDA, NPC enter semis

Defending champions Shivam New Diamond Academy and Nepal Police Club advanced to the semi-finals of the Red Bull National Women’s Volleyball Tournament here at Lamachaur today.
NDA thrashed the departmental side in straight sets of 3-0 and made it to the last four from the two-team Group A. Despite the defeat NPC also advanced to the semi-finals.
NDA took the first set 25-15 before taking the next two sets 25-19 and 25-17 to register comfortable victory over the departmental team.
In Group B, Western Region saw off Jawalakhel Volleyball Training Centre 25-15, 25-17, 25-23. The match between Nepal APF Club and Western Region was postponed following the heavy rain. The match was halted when APF were leading the first set 14-4. According to the organisers, the match will be played on Wednesday.
A total of five teams are competing in the tournament organised by Nawa Adarsha Community Development Committee of Lamachaur on the occasion of Teej Festival.
The winners and runners-up of the tournament will get Rs 75,000 and Rs 50,000 respectively, while the third and fourth finishers will receive Rs 20,000 and Rs 15,000 respectively. Similarly, the best player, quicker, libero, spiker, blocker, server, defender and coach will each get gift hampers.
