New Horizon triumph

BHAIRAHAWA: New Horizon School of Butwal won the title of the Expert School Cricket League of Lumbini Region here at the Siddhartha Stadium on Saturday.

NHS defeated Dawn Children’s School by 10 wickets in the final and also earned a berth in the national level tournament to be held in Kathmandu.

In the 25-over-a-side match, DCS scored 102-8 before NHS raced to victory in 14.5 overs without losing any wicket. Man-of-the-match Kushal Malla scored 71 off 44 balls that included 11 fours and two sixes.

Earlier, Darshan Rana top scored 30 runs for DCS. Sai Global’s Akash Nishad was named the best player of the tournament.

Bishal Khatri of NHS was declared the best batsman, while Bipin Kharel of DCS won the best bowler’s award and Shiva Karki of Paramount was adjudged the best fielder.

Muskan Timalsina of Bhairahawa School was named the emerging player of the tournament.
