KATHMANDU: New Road Team, one of the oldest Nepali football clubs, on Tuesday ensured their promotion to the A Division with a 2-0 win against Satdobato Youth Club in the Martyrs Memorial B Division Football League here at the Nepal APF Club grounds.

Bishwojit Gurung scored both the goals for NRT’s vital match of the league against Satdobato.

Gurung put NRT ahead in the match in the 42nd minute before adding another one in the 71st minute.

NRT needed just a point from the match, while win was the only option for Satdobato to get the promotion.

NRT finished as the runners-up following their inferior goal differences with champions Chyasal Youth Club despite both the teams tied on 28 points in 13 matches.

Chyasal won nine matches, drew in a match and lost three matches to be the champions, while runners-up NRT won eight, drew in four and lost one match.

Meanwhile, Chyasal beat Bansbari Club 5-0 in their last match today.
