Lalitpur, August 24

Nishcal Joshi and Supriya Tamang won the U-8 titles of the LA-JTI Inter-school Junior Open Tennis Tournament here at the Little Angels’ School courts on Thursday.

In boys’ section final, Joshi from St Xavier’s School defeated Boris Adhikari of Ullens School 10-1, 11-9, while Asab Hada of St Xavier’s and Harshit Chand of Cosmic were joint third. Tamang of Saraswoti Boarding School beat Samriddhi Maharjan of Universal 10-8, 10-12, 10-4 in girls’ final, whereas Nala J Maskey of French School and Samragi Lama of The British School came third.

Saloni Tamang, Rayana Shah, Isha Shree Shah, Sarbhani Shrestha advanced to the U-14 girls’ singles semi-finals. Tamang defeated Shirista Rai 6-1, 6-2, while Rayana beat Shubhangi RL Shah 6-0, 6-3. Also, Isha Shree outplayed Sneha Yadav 6-0, 6-1 and Sarbhani edged past Prakriti Shrestha 6-3, 6-4.

In boys’ section, Adit Subedi, Samyak Bhushan Bajracharya, Nishan Shrestha and Aditya Subedi made it to the last four.

Adit defeated Chirag Timalsina 6-1, 6-2, Bajracharya beat Ibhyek Joshi 6-4, 7-6, Shrestha registered a 6-4, 6-4 victory over Saroj Lama and Aditya outplayed Nischal Adhikari 6-1, 6-2.

Also, Prashamsha Moktan, Nala J Maskey, Saibhi Dhakal and Sunira Thapa made it to the U-9 girls’ semi-finals, while Siwas Shaky and Ayush Rai advanced to the boys’ section quarter-finals.
