NRT extend lead, RCT triumph

Lalitpur, September 11

New Road Team beat Mahabir Club 2-1 to extend their lead in the Martyrs Memorial B Division League here at the ANFA Complex grounds in Lalitpur today.

Mahabir took lead in the game through Kamal Gurung’s goal in the 16th minute. Their joy short-lived as NRT levelled the scores two minutes later when Ritesh Malla found the back of the nets.

At a time when the match was heading towards a draw, Abishek Rai scored the winning goal for NRT in the injury time of the second half to snatch full three points.

NRT, who won their fourth match, accumulated 14 points from six matches to go two clear of Ranipokhari Corner Team.

Mahabir are at the bottom of the standings with a point from six games.

Meanwhile, RCT moved three places up to second after they recorded a 2-0 victory over Tushal Youth Club at the Nepal APF Club grounds.

RCT took the lead after Biky Tamang found the nets in the 22nd minute, while Tushal’s Ratish Susling scored an own goal in the 68th minute. RCT accumulated 12 points, while Tushal have seven points in six matches.

In another match at the same venue, Divine Boys Union Club defeated Chyasal Youth Club 1-0.

Binod Lama scored solitary goal of the match in the seventh minute. Boys Union moved up to sixth position with seven points.

Chyasal, who are at fourth place, have 10 points from six matches.
