NSJF bids farewell to Karki

Kathmandu, April 15

Nepal Sports Journalists Forum today bade farewell to its member Priya Laxmi Karki, who is leaving for Solukhumbu in her bid to summit the Mount Everest along with four other women journalists.

NSJF President Mahesh Acharya, first Vice-president Durga Nath Subedi, vice-presidents Sanjeeb Shilpakar and Shreelochan Rajopadhyaya, General Secretary Prakash Timalsina and Photo Journalists Club President Bikash Karki bade farewell to her.

NSJF also handed over financial assistance of Rs 100,000 to Karki along with the flags of NSJF, International Sports Press Association (AIPS) and AIPS-Asia. Similarly, deputy General Secretary of National Sports Council Employee Association Dilli Kafle handed over the association's flag.

NSJF had raised the amount from its members, while Ruslan Three Star Club, NSC Employee Association and Nepal Archery Association President Deepak Gurung contributed Rs 10,000 each. Nepal Boxing Association President Ram Awale put in Rs 6,000 and NSC Vice-president Lama Tendi Sherpa and Nepal Archery Association General Secretary Ramesh Shiwakoti supported Rs 5,000 each in fund.

Rosha Basnet, Kalpana Maharjan, Rojita Budhcharya and Deurali Chamling are the other members in the expedition team. Karki said she was excited and nervous on the eve of the departure. “I will not give up at any cost and confident that we will be successful in our mission,” said Karki.
