Nuwakot claim HK charity tournament

Nuwakot won the Sixes4Nepal, a charity tournament organised by Hong Kong Cricket Association under the auspices of UNICEF and a local charity organisation to support earthquake relief in Nepal.

Nuwakot defeated Rasuwa by 16 runs in the final played at the Kowloon Cricket Club grounds in Hong Kong. Put into bat first, Nuwakot scored 84-3 in five overs and restricted Rasuwa for 68-2. Except for Nuwakot and Rasuwa, Sindhupalchowk, Gorkha, Dhading and Dolakha were the other teams in the fundraising tournament, the teams named after the six most affected districts by the April 25 devastating earthquake.

Nepal national team members Siddhant Lohani, Sompal Kami, Sharad Vesawkar, Shakti Gauchan, Basant Regmi and Bhuban Karki played for six teams. Hong Kong skipper Tanwir Afzal along with Jamie Atkinson, Irfan Ahmed, Babar Hayat, Nadeem Ahmed, Waqas Khan, Waqas Barkat and Ehsan Nawaz also played in the tournament.

Meanwhile, Nepal defeated Hong Kong by two wickets in a friendly match. Batting first, Hong Kong scored 96-4 in five overs before Nepal reached 98-4 in five overs.
