Lions Centennial Golf next week

Kathmandu, December 13

Lions Club of Dingla Bhojpur is organising the Old Durbar Lions Club Centennial Golf Tournament at the Royal Nepal Golf Club on December 23-24.

Around 100 golfers are expected to take part in the tournament being organised for the first time by Lions Club in Nepal, informed Lions Club of Dingla Bhojpur President Kishor Bhattarai at a press meet today.  “The tournament is a part of celebration of the 100 years of service for humanitarian cause through Lionism,” added Bhattarai. “Our Centennial Celebration is a time to mark this milestone, celebrate our legacy and look forward to the next century of service.”

The event is divided into six categories: Men, Women, Gross, Senior, Super Senior and Lions. The winners in men and women sections will receive air tickets to Kuala Lumpur and Bangkok from Nepal Airlines Corporation, while other winners and runners-up will get trophies and gift hampers. A separate Putting Competition will be held on Saturday for the members of the Lions Clubs and their families.

Multiple Council Chairperson Sunil Bhakta Shrestha and District Governor Kumar Raj Subedi briefed about the establishment of Lions Club and Nepal and its activities. Secretary of Royal Nepal Golf Club Kishan Agrawal said the tournament was being held over two days because the event clashed with the seventh National Games. “Those who cannot play on Saturday will complete their rounds on Friday and rest of the others will compete on Saturday,” said Agrawal. “This must be a coincidence that both of us are celebrating 100 years,” added Agrawal, referring to RNGC’s centennial celebration next year.

RNGC President Rabindra Man Shrestha asked the members of Lions Clubs to start playing golf for healthy mind and body. “This is the only sport that helps players stay fit,” he said. “And I hope the association between Lions and RNGC would go for a long and together we can raise funds for various charities,” Shrestha added. Yeti Distillery Pvt Ltd is the main sponsor of the tournament, while 8848 Vodka, Snowman, NLG Insurance Company Limited and Pran are co-sponsors.  Green Line Centre Private Limited, Atithi Resort and Haven Spa are partners of the event which is managed by Purple Inc Pvt Ltd and Corporate Management Solution Nepal.
