Lalitpur, August 30

The government today honoured Nepali men’s national volleyball team members with cash for winning bronze medal in the AVM Central Zone Volleyball Tournament in the Maldives in March.

The government rewarded the 15 members of the national team with Rs 100,000 each for achievement but the spikers had to wait for four hours.

Minister for Youth and Sports Rajendra Kumar KC, MoYS Secretary Mahesh Dahal and Nepal Volleyball Association President Manoranjan Raman Sharma handed over amount to them after the friendly match against Bangladesh.

Actually, the felicitation programme was set for 2:00PM, an hour before the friendly match between Nepal and Bangladesh. However, the felicitation programme was organised after 6:00 PM as Minister KC did not arrive on time. That also caused delay in start of the match which finally kicked off at 4:00PM.

Nepal Volleyball Association, which organised the friendly series, had also failed to start first match on time on Tuesday. The match, which was originally scheduled for 2:00PM, had started after delay of two-and-half hours as the organisers waited for the arrival of Defense Minister Bhimsengola Das Pradhan.
