Mali named Sahas Sports envoy

Kathmandu, August 1

Newly -launched sports wear company, Sahas Sports appointed national women’s volleyball team member Pratibha Mali as its brand ambassador for one year.

Sahas  Sports President and Managing Director Janak Neupane and star spiker Mali signed  the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) amidst a function in Kathmandu. As per the agreement, Sahas Sports will provide Mali with Rs  120,000 apart from gears worth Rs 50,000. In return, Mali will endorse the brand.

Mali thanked Sahas Sports for choosing her as the brand ambassador. “Volleyball is one of the most  popular games in the country, I hope Sahas Sports will also be the No 1 brand in the country,” said Mali, who plays for New Diamond Academy in domestic volleyball tournaments.

Sahas Sports also signed sponsorship agreement with New Diamond Academy. As  per the agreement signed between Sahas Sports President Neupane and NDA  President Sunkeshari Mali, Sahas Sports will provide the club with sports gears worth  Rs 175,000, while the academy will use the kits with the logo of Sahas Sports — which has opened outlets in Sundhara and Kamal Pokhari — in domestic tournaments.

Earlier, Sahas Sports  President Neupane, Mali and Nepal Volleyball  Association President Manoranjan Raman Sharma unveiled the logo of the  brand. Mali also displayed the new products of Sahas Sports at the programme. “As I am associated with Nepali sports for more than a decade, I know the situation of athletes. We feel bad whenever a player leaves the country looking for a secured future,” said Neupane. “We decided to appoint Mali as the brand  ambassador and lent a small support to NDA to encourage them.”

“The government has recently announced volleyball as the national  game and it is our responsibility to promote and help for the development of  the sport. We have made a small initiation by appointing Mali as the brand ambassador and also sponsoring NDA, which is a proud moment for us,” said Neupane. “This is just a beginning and we hope to make big contributions in future.”

Meanwhile,  New Diamond Academy Principal and coach Kumar Rai said getting the  sponsorship of Sahas Sports was winning moment for whole volleyball  fraternity. “We have got a sponsor after sweating it out for around a decade. I want to thank Neupane for choosing us and out sport and we promise to support the brand as much as we can,” said Rai.

Similarly,  NVA General Secretary Jitendra Bahadur Chand said Pratibha Mali being  appointed as the brand ambassador was proud moment for the sport. “Sahas Sports will definitely do well as it has appointed a talented player as the brand ambassador,” he said .

Nepal Sports Journalists Forum President Mahesh Acharya said signing two agreements on the opening day was courageous work. “Getting started with two crucial signings on the opening day is not a joke. Sahas Sports has started with Mali and volleyball, and we hope the company will keep on contributing to Nepali sports in future as well,” said Acharya. Similarly, All Nepal Football Association member  Ramesh Rayamajhi and Kathmandu District Badminton Association President  Deepak Thapa said Sahas Sports made smart move by signing the agreements on opening day.
