Province 2, 7 off to winning starts

Province2  and Province7 registered victories in the Manamohan Memorial  Inter-Province U-16 National Cricket Tournament here at the TU Stadium  today.

Province2 thrashed Province4 by seven wickets, while Province7 saw off Province5 by 71 runs in Group A.

In  the day’s first match, Province4 were bowled for 100  runs in 28.3  overs after batting first before Province2 reached 101-3 in 13.5 overs.

Province2  won the match riding on Imran Sheikh’s 29-ball 33 that included five  boundaries and as six, while Trit Raj Das scored 28 off 23 balls that  included six boundaries. Kiran Poudel, Sujan Gautam and Prem Gurung  claimed one wicket each for Province4.

Earlier, Province4 reached triple digit  after Anil Baral scored 29 off 75 balls hitting two boundaries. Ishan  Shrestha scored 28-ball 23 with the help of four boundaries. Player-of-the-match  Nikhil Kumar Singh claimed 4-10, and he was ably supported by B Yadav (3-30) and Byash Yadav (2-13). Samsad Ali Mansuri claimed one wiket for  Province2.

In another match, Povince7 scored 169-8 in their allotted 30 overs and packed Province5 for 98 runs in 23.4 overs. Province7  posted the fighting total after Binod Khatri smashed 37-ball 52 hitting  three each boundaries and sixes. Rajan Singh scored 37 off 59 balls that  included three boundaries. Nabin Bhattarai and Rahul Kumar Luniya  claimed two wickets and Som Sharma took one for Province5.

In reply, Provice5 were  packed cheaply. Kushal Malla top scored with 23-ball 32 hitting five  boundaries and a six, while Bishal Bikram KC chipped in with 17  off 34 balls that included a four. Player-of-the-match Narendra  Sawad (3-14) and Narayan Joshi (3-29) shared six wickets between them,  while Suwash Ayer and Manoj Luitel claimed one wicket each for  Province7.
