Sacked Nepal cricket physio to face second abuse charge

KATHMANDU: Sacked physiotherapist of Nepali national cricket team, Dr Aijaz Bashir Ashai, is facing an extra charge of sexual abuse in Ireland.

Dr Ashai has already been indicted in a case that he molested a female masseuse in Ireland during his stay for the Twenty20 Qualifiers in mid-July.

He is being tried at the Newtownards Magistrates Court for the case currently.

According to the local Belfast Telegraph, a judge of the Court today heard that he will face an additional charge of inciting his alleged victim to engage in sexual activity on July 14.

The Cricket Association of Nepal had removed him from the job on July 16 after it was found that the physio molested a female masseuse at the luxury La Mon Hotel in Ireland.

Ashai is from Thakur village in Mumbai of India.

He has been released on bail and the next hearing on the case shall take place on coming Friday, according to the paper.
