Sher Bahadur Khadka Memorial Foundation and Shivam Cement today renewed the sponsorship agreement for the fourth KNP National Women's Volleyball Tournament here today.

Patron of SBKMF, Gamali Khadka and Project Head of Shivam Cement Nikhil Agrawal signed the memorandum of understanding at a signing ceremony. As per the MoU, Shivam Cement will provide the SBKMF with Rs 500,000. In return, SBKMF will treat Shivam Cement as the cosponsor of the tournament.

The two parties had signed the first agreement last year and Shivam Cement had provided the SBKMF with Rs 300,000. “We are proud to get Shivam Cement as the cosponsor of the tournament and we are grateful towards them in their generous support of women's volleyball,” said SBKMF Director Ranjan Khadka, who is also the vice-president of Nepal Volleyball Association. “Out of the Rs 500,000, Shivam Cement will spend Rs 200,000 for promotional activities and prepare a stage for the opening ceremony,” he added.

A total of six teams – three departmental sides Tribhuvan Army Club, Nepal Police Club and Nepal APF Club along with Shivam New Diamond Academy, Western Region and Jawalakhel Volleyball Training Centre - will take part in the tournament slated for May 4-8. SBKMF has already signed KNP Japan as the main sponsors of the tournament.

Top three teams will receive Rs 150,000, Rs 100,000 and Rs 50,000 respectively, while the player of the series will earn Rs 10,000. Likewise, seven best individuals will earn Rs 5,000 each, while SBKMF will honour a player with the KNP Sher Bahadur Memorial Special Award.

Shivam Cement Project Head Agrawal was grateful to the organisers for providing them with the opportunity to contribute in the development of the national sport. “Through this tournament, we could do something for volleyball, the national sport, and we feel honoured to get the chance,” said Agrawal. “We are confident that we continue to contribute in the sport in the days to come,” he added.

NVA President Manoranjan Raman Sharma thanked Shivam Cement for the generous support. “We have brought volleyball to a new height and we need support from all quarters of the society to take it further ahead,” he added.
