Shah clinches Hyundai Open Golf title

Kathmandu, March 18

Col Bikash Shah accumulated 39 points to win the title of seventh Hyundai Open Golf Tournament here at the Gokarna Forest Resort.

Played under stableford 3/4 handicap format, the eight-handicap amateur golfer Shah scored 19 points on the front nine added 20 in the latter half. Along with the trophy, Shah got gift voucher worth Rs 100,000 and a Coolpad smart phone.

Ang Norbu Sherpa finished second with 38 points. He scored 20 and 18 points on two halves. Sherpa received gift voucher worth Rs 50,000 and Coolpad smart phone. He also bagged the most birdies award and received gift voucher worth Rs 10,000 and Coolpad smart phone. Maj Nischaya Jung Rayamajhi was third on count back after he was tied with Nirmal Dahal and Dhruba Thapa on 36 points. Rayamajhi scored 17 on the back nine, while Dahal earned 16 and Thapa 15. Rayamajhi received gift voucher worth Rs 20,000 and Coolpad smart phone.

Wangchen Dhondup claimed the gross section award with 33 points. He received gift voucher worth Rs 50,000 and Coolpad smart phone. Pratima Sherpa won the women’s section trophy with 36 points and received gift voucher worth Rs 20,000 and Coolpad smart phone. Gopal Chitrakar was senior winner with 35 points and he received gift voucher worth Rs 20,000 and Coolpad smart phone.

Jamling Ghale was the best among the Hyundai owners with 34 points and he received gift voucher worth along with gift voucher worth Rs 20,000 and Coolpad smart phone. Sam Doublard was the junior section winner with 18 points from nine holes. Doublard received gift voucher worth Rs 20,000 and Coolpad smart phone.

Samyog Shahi won the longest drive award, while Ang Tshiring Sherpa bagged the closest-to-the-pin award. Shahi and Sherpa received gift voucher worth Rs 10,000 and Coolpad smart phone each. Mahendra Mainali received a special prize for the well-maintained car among the Hyundai owners and he received Rs 10,000 worth service package at Hyundai service facility. None of the participants could win the Hyundai Grand i10 car kept for Hole-in-One.

A total of 115 players took part in the tournament sponsored by Laxmi Intercontinental Pvt Ltd, the sole authorised distributor for Hyundai vehicles in Nepal. South Korean Ambassador Choe Yong-Jin, Chairman of Laxmi Group Ganesh Bahadur Shrestha, President of Gokarna Golf Club Suhrid Ghimire and Captain Joseph Nathan handed over the prizes to the winners.
