South Asian Selection tourney from May 15

Kathmandu, May 11

All Nepal Lawn Tennis Association is organising the South Asian Selection Tournament for the ITF Asian U-12 Team Championship at the Satdobato Tennis Complex in Lalitpur from May 15-20.

A total of seven countries — hosts Nepal, Bangladesh, Bhutan, India, Maldives, Pakistan and Sri Lanka — will compete in the boys and girls categories, informed ANLTA President Jyoti Rana at a press meet today. Participating teams will be divided into two groups and the top two teams from both the groups will secure their places in the semi-finals.

The two finalists from both the categories will qualify for the championship which will be played in Kazakhstan in December. Two singles and a doubles matches will be played in the team events, informed ANLTA General Secretary Manohar Das Mool.

Nepal’s Aryan Giri, Arabh Samrat Hada and Akki Jubel Raut will compete in boys’ category, while Ishashree Shah, Sarbhani Shrestha and Subhangi Laxmi Shah will play in girls’ event.

The organisers informed that the estimated budget for the event was Rs 2.6 million.
