Lions beat Bulls

KATHMANDU: Sri Lankan Lions defeated Afghanistan Bulls by 10 runs in the Asian Club Premier League here at the Tribhuvan University Stadium on Sunday.

Put into bat first, Lions scored 158-8 in their allotted 20 overs before packing Bulls for 148 runs with five balls to spare. Dinesh Nakrani top scored with 45 off 39 balls and Akash Goutal hit 37-ball 43 to guide Lions to a fighting total.

Bulls’ Rohit Saini took 3-30, while Pawan Yadav claimed 2-18 and Deepak Bhatoi, Kulwinder Singh and Manish Mor claimed one wicket each.

In reply, Bulls failed to reach the target despite six players scoring in double figures. Rana Naveed ul Hassan remained not out on 14-ball 25, while Gaurav Sharma scored 24 off 26. Anil Sharma (21), Mohd Faran (21), Savan Pahariya (16) and Manish Mor (16) also scored in double figures. Lions’ Nishan Samarakkody (3-35) and Karan Walia (3-17) shared six wickets between them.

Utsav Chandra Vaibhav Arora and Akash Goutal took one wicket apiece.
