Stage set for Inter-college futsal tourney

Kathmandu, November 20

Alfa  Beta Institute Pvt Ltd organised the draw ceremony of the Alfa Beta Inter-college  Futsal Tournament slated for November 22-24 at the Sankhamul Futsal.

The participating 16 teams have been divided into four groups for the league-cum-knockout tournament. Uniglobe, Seabird, Liverpool and Saipal were drawn in Group A, while Group B comprises of Olympia, Little Angles’, Nami and Ideal.

Similarly,  Insight Vision, British, Himalayan White and Whitefield were drawn  in Group C, whereas AVM, Times International, Golden Gate and Ullens  were grouped in Pool D. Top two teams each from  all groups will advance to the quarter-finals, informed tournament  coordinator and former national football team skipper Hari Khadka.

The  winners and runners-up of the tournament take home Rs 100,000 and Rs  60,000 respectively, while team finishing third will get Rs 40,000.  The man-of-the-match after the round of eight will get Rs 1,000,  while the best player and best goalkeeper will get Rs 10,000 each.

Acting President of Alfa Beta Institute Dweeraj Sharma said they wanted to promote youth and sports through the event. “We  have contributed in education sector for years and now we want to  promote youth and sports with our available resources,” said Sharma.

South  Asian Games record holder taekwondo player Deepak Bista said other educational institutes also  showed their interest in organising sports activities. “Since we announced the event, other educational  institutions have approached me to organise sports activities and we have taken that a positive sign towards the development of sports,” said  Bista.
