KATHMANDU: Tribhuvan Army Club’s Sunny Singh Sunar and Manju BK won open category gold medals of the 15th Men’s and 14th Women’s Full Contact Karate Tournament on Saturday.

In the men’s category final, Sunar beat Madan Chhetri of Province No 4. In women’s section, BK was declared the champion after her opponent Mamta Rai of Province No 4 was disqualified on medical grounds. TAC’s Manoj Thapaliya won men’s below-65kg category gold medal beating Gopi Ram Syangtan of Province No 4, while Mahesh Bhujel of Province No 3 defeated Sandesh Sunar of Province No 5 in men’s below-55kg final.

The top four position holders in all the categories got Rs 10,000, Rs 5,000, Rs 2,500 and Rs 1,200 respectively. In individual kata, Santosh Saud of Province No 5, Mahesh Bhujel of Province No 3 and TAC’s Sunil Nagarkoti bagged top three positions and got Rs 5,000, Rs 2,500 and Rs 1,200 respectively. — HNS
