KATHMANDU: Tribhuvan Army Club’s Sunny Singh Sunar and Govinda Rokka of Province No 4 advanced to the men’s open weight category semi-finals of the 15th Men’s and 14th Women’s National Full Contact Karate Tournament on Friday.

Sunar defeated Amir Deula and Rokka outplayed Pratap BK of Province No 3. Madan Chhetri and Deepak Mahato of Province No 4 also advanced to the last four. In women’s open weight category, Manju BK of TAC, Sujita Rai of Province No 3,  Laxmi Thakuri of Province No 5 and Mamata Rai of Province No 4 made it to the semi-finals.

Similarly, Mahesh Bhujel, Ajay Rai and Sujan Danuwar of Province No 3 and Sanjay Sunar of Province No 5 secured their places in the last four in men’s below-55kg event. In men’s below-65kg, TAC’s Chok Bahadur Buchchhe and Manoj Thapaliya along with Thomas Khadka of Province No 5 and Gopi Ram Syangtan of Province No 4 entered the last four.  — HNS
