Tamang wins kayak slalom title

Nepal Kayak Club’s Surjan Tamang won the title of the Kayak Slalom event under the sixth Mountain Sports Festival here at the Trishuli River in Fishling today.

In the final, Tamang accumulated 24.41 points to win the title, while his teammate Suman Thapa earned 24.69 points to finish second. Chitwan Team Fishling’s Bikash Gurung finished third with 24.88 points. The top three position holders will represent Nepal in the Asian Games to be hosted by Indonesia in September.

Similarly, Paddle Nepal ‘A’ won the title of Sprint Event of the second Rafting Championship held on the sidelines of the tournament. Paddle Nepal completed the 250-metre distance in two minutes and 9.69 seconds to win the event. Nepal Kayak Club ‘A’ clocked two minutes and 10.82 seconds to finish second, while Team Fishling ‘B’ came third in two minutes and 10.90 seconds.

Meanwhile, Team Fishling ‘B’ and Paddle Nepal advanced to the final of the Head-to-Head event of Rafting. On Tuesday, Head-to-Head, Slalom and Downfall events of rafting section will be held. The event is organised by Nepal Rafting and Canoeing Association.
