SVI, Bal Shrijanalaya enter final

Siddhartha Vanasthali Institute and Bal Shrijanalaya advanced to the Coca-Cola Cup Inter-school Football Tournament finals from Group One after they won their matches here at the Sano Gaucharan grounds on Monday.

In the first semi-final match, Siddhartha Vanasthali Institute came from behind to defeat Agaman Academy 4-1. Bibek Katuwal provided the lead to Agaman in the 20th minute before Prabin Sunuwar levelled the scores three minutes later. Ashok Pariyar then put Siddhartha Vanasthali ahead in the 52nd minute and he made it 3-1 with his second goal of the match in the 64th minute. Darshan Babu Thapa put the issue beyond doubt scoring the team’s fourth goal in the 69th minute. Raman Hamal of Siddhartha Vanasthali was named the man-of-the-match.

In another semi-final game, Bal Shrijanalaya edged past Oracle Ray Academy 5-4 on penalties. The match went to spot kick battle after both the teams failed to score in the regulation time. Sanjil Lama of Bal Shrijanalaya received the man-of-the-match award.

In other meaningless matches, Prithvi Secondary Boarding School and Bishwo Niketan School registered victories. Prithvi thrashed Kanchanjangha School 4-0 riding on a hat-trick from Bibek Thakur and a goal from Saugat Thapa Magar.

Thakur completed his hat-trick scoring goals in the 32nd, 33rd and 67th minutes, while Magar netted one in the 36th minute.

Likewise, Bishwo Niketan defeated Prime English School 2-0 on goals from Siddhartha Silwal and Nikunja Tamang.
