TAC pip MMC to enter final

Hetauda, February 21

Defending champions Tribhuvan Army Club defeated Laxmi Hyundai Manang Marshyangdi Club 1-0 and advanced to the final of the third Hetauda International Gold Cup Football Tournament at the Institute of Forestry grounds today.

George Prince Karki’s second half  goal was enough for the departmental side to beat MMC in the first semi-final match.

On Thursday, Nepal Police Club will take on CMG Club Sankata in second semi-final match and the winners will take on TAC in Saturday’s final. After goalless first half, Karki found the back of the nets in the 89th minute to seal the victory for TAC. In the competitive encounter, TAC also wasted a couple of goal scoring chances with Nawayug Shrestha and Bharat Khawas coming close but they failed to find the back of the nets. Similarly, MMC’s Anjan Bista also wasted a goal scoring opportunity.

TAC defender Bimal Pandey was named the man-of-the-match and got Rs 5,000. TAC coach Nabin Neupane said his side won the highly competitive match after utilising the goal scoring chance. “We changed our strategy after the interval and won the match. However, we need to improve ourselves in upcoming matches,” said Neupane.
