Tamang wins Junior Golf Tournament

Kathmandu, Sept 29

Subash Tamang won the title of the CMS-NGA Junior Golf Tournament title here at the Royal Nepal Golf Club today.

Tamang accumulated 35 points to finish first in the boys’ U-17 section, while Sam Doublard came second with 31 points. Binod Tamang was second runner-up with 27 points. As per the tournament rules, the top two players were supposed to earn berths in the Thailand Junior World Championship to be held in Bangkok from November 1-4 but the second spot went to Binod Tamang after runner-up Doublard held British passport.

In the boys’ U-13 section, Vivaan Poudyal won the title with eight points, while Sadbhav Acharya came second with seven and Prem Magar was third in count back after he was tied on five points with Jaibir Acharya.

Likewise, Devasri RL Rana won the girls’ section trophy with nine points, finishing ahead of Barsa Dev and Durga Kumari Shah. A total of 23 players took part in the nine-hole competition organised by Nepal Golf Association under the CMS-NGA Junior Golf Development Programme sponsored by ISME Pvt Ltd.

NGA President Tashi Ghale, Treasurer Kishan Agrawal, joint secretary Chandra Thapa and Junior Golf Director Deepak Acharya handed over the prizes to the winners of the event.
