Three Star beat NPC, win Tilottama Gold Cup

Ruslan Three Star Club defeated Nepal Police Club 2-0 in the final of the 20th Tilottama Gold Cup Football Tournament here at the ANFA Technical Centre grounds today.

Three Star skipper Nirajan Khadka scored a goal, while NPC’s Rabin Shrestha netted an own goal.

After a goalless first half, Three Star took the lead in the 66th minute, thanks to NPC’s Shrestha, who put the ball into the own nets while trying to clear Bimal Gharti Magar’s cross. Khadka doubled the tally in the 79th minute as he headed home following a corner from Sunil Bal.

Earlier, NPC’s Ravi Paswan found the back of the nets in the 15th minute but referee Kabin Byanjankar ruled that offside. Paswan missed another chance in the 76th minute applying a poor shot in rebound.

Champions Three Star and runners-up NPC received Rs 777,777 and Rs 444,444 respectively.

Three Star’s Nirajan Khadka was named the best player of the tournament and he received a scooter, while his teammate Allan Neupane was named the best goalkeeper and their coach Megh Raj KC was declared the best coach of the tournament.

NPC’s Rejin subba and Bhola Silwal were named the best forward and midfielder respectively, while Rupanedehi’s Purna Bahadur Shrestha got the best defender’s award. The individual award winners received Rs 21,111 each.
