Tour de Lumbini set for April 27-30

KATHMANDU: Tour de Lumbini, a cycling rally from Kathmandu to Bhairahawa with a slogan of Pedal for Peace, is slated for April 27-30.

A total of 108 cyclists, including some professional riders from Nepal and Thailand, will take part in the 325km rally, informed the organisers at a press meet on Tuesday.

The rally will start from Swoyambhu and the riders will cover 100km distance to Hetauda via Chandragiri and Daman on the first day. The rally will go through Manahari and Narayanghat to Rajhar on the second day covering 90kms. The cyclists then reach Butwal on the third day covering 104kms and reach Lumbini on the final day, the birthday of Lord Buddha.

Meanwhile, the organisers, Tour de Lumbini, is also organising the Heritage Ride in April 21.

Around 500 cyclists will take part in the race that will begin from Basantapur Durbar Square and will go to six other heritage sites - Swoyambhu, Pashupatinath, Bouddha, Changunarayan, Bhaktapur Durbar Square and Patan Durbar Square - covering the distance of 65 kilometres.
