TAC advance to semis

Janakpur, April 25

Tribhuvan Army Club thrashed Birat Cricket Society by nine wickets and advanced to the semi-finals of the Deepak Gupta Memorial T20 Cricket Tournament here at the Rangabhumi grounds today.

In Group B match, Birat were bowled for a paltry 39 runs in 12.2 overs before TAC raced to 45-1 in 4.5 overs. Skipper Binod Bhandari hit 18-ball 30 not out with the help of a boundary and three sixes, while Naresh Budhayer remained unbeaten on 14 off 10 balls that included a six to help TAC secure last four berth.

Earlier, Birat were bowled out for a low total as Sonu Tamang, who scored not out 19 off 18 balls hitting two balls, was the lone batsman to score in double figures. TAC's Sompal Kami and Sagar Pun claimed three wickets each, while Jitendra Mukhiya and Sahab Alam took two wickets apiece..

The result meant, TAC earned four points from three matches and confirmed their place in the last four on net rut rated despite Nepal APF Club also having four points.

Meanwhile, APF defeated Sonnet Cricket Club by five wickets and kept their hopes alive. Another semi-finalist will be decided after the match between Sonnet (two) and Birat, who are yet to open their accounts, slated for Thursday.
