HETAUDA: Western Region and Eastern Region advanced to the men’s section semi-finals of the National Hockey Tournament on Wednesday.

Western defeated Central 2-1 to finish as Group B runners-up. Roshan Rana and Rajan Nepal scored a goal each for Western, while Ankit Pathak netted the consolation goal for Central.

Similarly, Eastern beat Mid-western Region 3-1 and finished as Group A runners-up. Eastern’s Ashok Paudel netted a brace and Sakil Sheikh added one, while Santosh Besa scored the consolation goal for Mid-western. Western will now face Group A winners Tribhuvan Army Club and Eastern will meet Group B winners Far-western Region.

In women’s category, Far-western registered a 3-0 win against Eastern for their first win in three matches. Earlier, Far-western had faced defeats against Tribhuvan Army club and Western Region. Meanwhile, Western and Central played a goalless draw in round robin match.
