Winners of Bangabandhu, SAG gold to get Rs 5 lakh for each

KATHMANDU: The All Nepal Football Association on Wednesday announced that it would award members of the winning teams of the Bangabandhu Gold Cup and the South Asian Games men's football with Rs 500,000 each.

As both teams had almost same members, a player included in both squads would get Rs 1 million.

An executive committee meeting of the football governing body on Wednesday made the decision to this effect.

The committee headed by acting President Narendra Shrestha also decided to honour members of the female squad who won the silver in the SAG with Rs 100,000 each.

Coaches of the respective teams will also be honoured with the equal prize money in a function to be held next month.

Other decisions of the meeting include organising a U-16 Championship annually in memory of its acting President Lalit Krishna from this year and including the championship in the ANFA calendar, launching a pilot project in the Mid-western and Far-western regions by technically and financially helping the District Football Associations and clubs to gradually increase footballing activities, and starting the process of club licensing for A Division Clubs and potential B Division Clubs from this year.

The meeting also approved its annual calendar.
