KATHMANDU, MAY 9

Yeti Distillery Pvt. Ltd has won awards at the San Francisco Worlds Spirit Competition (SFWSC), with its products 8848 Vodka and Old Durbar Black Chimney bagging gold and double gold medals.

8848 Vodka received gold medal while Old Durbar Black Chimney blended reserve whisky was awarded double gold medals.

The gold medal represents 'exceptional spirits that are near the pinnacle of achievement', while double gold represents 'among the finest products in the world', the organisers said. Participants receive medals based on predetermined criteria ranging from bronze, silver, gold, double gold and platinum, according to SFWSC.

It has been learnt that the 2022 edition of the competition saw the highest number of participants till date.

During the same, as many as 70 judges from around the world evaluated 5,000 spirits over the course of two weeks in April.

The San Francisco Worlds Spirit Competition which was launched in 2000, is the oldest and largest spirits' competition in North America.
