Two-party alliance representative Shrestha of NC claims mayoral post in Katari municipality of Udaypur

GAIGHAT, MAY 25

The candidate representing two-party alliance has emerged victorious as the mayor of Katari Municipality in Udaypur district.

Rajeshchandra Shrestha of Nepali Congress has claimed the mayoral post in Katari.

Shrestha, a businessman by profession, was favoured over Krishna Prasad Baral of CPN-Maoist as the now-elected mayor received 6,417 votes, which is 465 more than closet competitor Baral's vote count.

Similary, Geeta Khadka of CPN-UML has been elected as the deputy mayor of the municipality. Khadka bagged the post after defeating Binod Katuwal contesting under the CPN-Maoist banner by a massive margin of 2,592 votes.

Khadka was deemed suited for the post by 6, 413 voters.
