BAJURA, JUNE 16

Local farmers of Bajura are facing problems as their vegetable produce is not getting the market in Bajura.

Local farmer Harka Nath said he was compelled to bury his vegetables in the field after he could not sell them. Nath had started Nath Multipurpose Vegetable Farm two years ago. He complained that the local government and authority concerned had not paid any attention, nor had they helped farmers even though their vegetables were rotting in the field.

Local farmers have been growing vegetables in the entire village of Rajali in Badimalika. But they are not getting the market price. Cucumber, gourd, chilli, potato, cauliflower, cabbage, radish, okra, pumpkin, tomato, among other vegetables are grown.

Acting Chief Hari Prasad Paneru of Agriculture Knowledge Centre said initiatives will be taken to send vegetables outside the districts and that coordination was under way for their marketisation.
