KATHMANDU: Bhojpura State Committee of the UCPN-Maoist has called a Bhojpura bandh on Thursday to protest the killing of its member and Parsa Constituency No 2 in-charge of party Rajesh Mandal on Tuesday. The bandh will affect the region between Saptari and Kapilvastu districts. “This is to warn the government to be cautious as situation can further worsen if people take action for their security,” stated Giriraj Mani Pokhrel, in-charge, BSC, in a press release. Pokhrel, who is also the standing committee member of the party, has demanded security of party cadres and government employees, besides action against the culprits. He also demanded that all the people killed by the criminal groups be declared martyrs and provided Rs 1 million as relief to their kin. BSC secretary Anjana Bishankhe said the party was devising a plan to safeguard its leaders and cadres from attacks. “We have got the evidence of deployment of criminal gangs by certain power centres,” she claimed. She said the party had provided the list of people involved in the murders to the administration and was waiting for their action.
