NEPSE surges by 0.44 percent in volatile trading session

KATHMANDU, AUGUST 02

The Nepal Stock Index (NEPSE) experienced a positive upswing on Wednesday, gaining 9.25 points, which represents a 0.44 percent increase compared to the previous day's closing. The trading session concluded with NEPSE reaching a level of 2086.84.

The day's trading began with the index opening at 2,077.58 and reaching its intraday high at 2,086.84. However, it displayed volatility throughout the day, hitting an intraday low of 2,062.00 before settling at its closing value of 2086.84.

During the trading session, a total of 269 scrips were exchanged in 35,835 transactions, resulting in a substantial volume of shares traded, totaling 9,361,786 and a turnover of Rs. 1.81 Arba.

The market capitalization at the end of Wednesday's trading was Rs. 30.67 Kharba, showing a gain of Rs. 14 Arba from Tuesday's closing market cap of Rs. 30.53 Kharba.

Notably, SHIVAM CEMENTS LIMITED (SHIVM) recorded the highest turnover, with an impressive amount of Rs. 11.19 crores, and closed at a market price of Rs. 596. Meanwhile, RBB Mutual Fund 1 (RMF1) showed the most significant gain, closing at Rs. 7.80, reflecting a 4.14 percent increase, followed by Standard Chartered Bank (SCB) with a 2.03 percent increase, closing at Rs. 568.

However, Prabhu Smart Fund (PRSF) experienced a significant loss, hitting the lower circuit with a 10.00 percent negative change in the mutual fund scheme.

Analyzing the sub-indices, three sub-indices, namely hydropower, microfinance, and trading, closed in the red, while the remaining indices closed in the green. The Finance Index showed the most significant gain, increasing by 1.69 percent, while the microfinance index suffered the most significant loss, declining by 0.28 percent.
