60 women airlifted to health institutions in Gandaki province

So far 60 women, mostly pregnant and new mothers, have benefited from air rescue services provided by the government in Gandaki province.

The provincial government started the air rescue service to airlift expecting and new mothers who suffer complications and need to be sent to well-equipped hospitals from remote locations.

Secretary at the Ministry of Social Development and Health, Dr Binod Bindu Sharma, said that 60 women were rescued by air under this program until of Asar 2080. Similarly, six people took this service in the previous financial year 2079/080.

The provincial government began this service in 2075 BS and has been proved effective for women in remote areas and do not have access to transportation.

Women from the districts of Myagdi, Baglung, Gorkha, Lamjung and other districts of Gandaki province have benefitted from the air rescue service.
