By Himalayan News Service

DAILEKH: Unified CPN-Maoist district committee member Krishna Gurung, who was accused of attacking Panipokhari police post in Kushapani VDC, Dailekh, on Sunday night was arrested and brought to the District Police Office today. The police have also arrested nine other persons. However, Maoist state committee member and former people's government chairman Nayaram Thapa claimed that Gurung was not involved in the incident and that there was no direction from the party for any such attack. Thapa alleged the police had arrested Gurung without any evidence and had also terrorised the villagers. He said following the police action, the residents of Kushapani VDC Ward Nos 1, 2, 3 and 4 had fled to the neighbouring VDC. Addressing a press meet in the district headquarters, Thapa urged the political parties and the civil society to probe the incident in a fair manner.
